Dr Omphemetse Moedi
Dr Omphemetse Moedi is a dedicated, meticulous and compassionate Cardiologist. Dr Moedi began his educational journey at the National University of Ireland in Galway, receiving his bachelor’s degree in Medicine, Surgery and Obstetrics (MB BcH Bao) in 2010. He later acquired a Fellowship to the College of Physicians, South Africa (FCP SA) at the University of Witwatersrand in 2018. As of June 2023, Dr Moedi completed his fellowship training, attaining full registration and is a qualified Cardiologist.
Dr Moedi's professional journey in the medical field has been marked by perseverance, hard work, and an unyielding desire to learn. His career journey started in Ireland as an intern in Medicine and Surgery at Galway University Hospital. Then he took on the role of Medical Officer at Scottish Livingstone Hospital, Botswana, where he honed his clinical skills covering a wide range of medical emergencies.
From 2014 to 2018, he served as a Medical Registrar at the University of Witwatersrand, where he completed a comprehensive master's program in Internal Medicine (MMED), rotating through various specialities and treating various medical cases. He then worked as a Medical Specialist Physician at Potchefstroom Regional Hospital, overseeing numerous departments, educating medical students, and initiating a weekly journal club to bolster research.
From 2020 until 2023, Dr Moedi was a Cardiology Fellow at the Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital at the University of Witwatersrand. Despite the demands of the position, Dr Moedi utilised the opportunities afforded by a high patient load and a variety of pathologies to refine his skills.
Dr Moedi prides himself on his practical skills, teamwork, and ability to work under pressure. His Cardiology skills include extensive training in numerous procedures, such as angiograms and percutaneous coronary interventions, and he has vast experience managing critical care patients.
Fueled by the desire to build upon an already extensive medical background, Dr Moedi aims to leverage his unique skill set and experiences to contribute significantly to the cardiology field.
